「第57回ベネチア・ビエンナーレ」は、ディレクター、クリスティーヌ・マセルが「アートとは私にとってコミュニケーションではなく抵抗」と語るように、混迷一途の世界に芸術の力でなんらかの抵抗をすると同時に、芸術を賞賛することで暗い世相に物申そうといった雰囲気があった。
だが、前回のオクイー・エンヴェゾーのビエンナーレでは、反植民地主義、反戦、階級格差問題を直接訴える作品群が主流だったが、今回は政治的課題を扱ってはいても温かみや詩的な表現が目立った。
今年は5年に一度開催されるドクメンタの年であり、政治的芸術はむしろドクメンタに継承されています。
カッセルで始まったドクメンタの主題もアンチ・ファシズムです。
報告会ではこの点についても解説します。
また、デミアン・ハーストがベネチアで開催している「難破船からの信じられない宝」展は、賛否両論を含め大変な反響を呼んでいますが、この世界がそもそもフェイクだといった主張はハイパー情報化時代を迎えている今日的な問題意識だと思えます。

At 57th Venice Biennale, there was an atmosphere to propose something effective to the dark social conditions through praising Art,as Christine Macel, the director of the international exhibition said "For me, Art is not a communication but a resistance".
At the last Biennale curated by Okwui Enwezor, the main stream of the international exhibition was full of works directly appealing post-colonialism, anti-war, and class difference disparity problem, butin this exhibition, warm or poetic expressions stand out even though they dealt with political issues.
This year also another important exhibition Documenta, once every five years, is held and it looks that political art is rather inherited to Documenta.
The theme of Documenta started in Kassel is anti fascism. We will also explain this point.
Also, “Treasures From the Wreck of The Unbelievable” show by Damien Hirst being held in Venice at the same time as 57th Venice Biennale, has been calling for a tremendous response including pros and cons. His argument that this world is fake looks to show today's problem consciousness in our hyper information age.
